COP figures are the manufacturer's rated test points, and they are not all measured the same way: Haier at 20°C air heating 15 to 55°C water, Rinnai at 19°C air and water in eco mode, Rheem over a full heat-up at 19°C air. Use them to rank like with like, not as a running cost promise. A dash means the manufacturer does not publish that figure.
Monoblock or split
Monoblock units (Haier HP200M1U1, HP250M1U1, HP330M1U1, Rinnai HydraHeat, Rheem AmbiPower, Thermann 270THMB36) carry the compressor on top of the tank, so the whole unit goes outside. Plan the pad: the Haier 330L is 710 mm across and 1941 mm tall, and Haier recommend a poured pad for it rather than pavers.
Split (Haier HP300S2-F7) keeps the 580 x 1694 mm tank where the old cylinder was and puts only the 780 x 545 x 286 mm outdoor unit outside. It is the one to use where there is no room outside for a full tank, and it runs down to -15°C.
Electrical
- Haier HP200M1U1 and HP250M1U1 can reuse an existing 15 A cylinder circuit.
- Haier HP330M1U1 needs a dedicated 20 A circuit.
