What mains pressure means
A mains pressure cylinder is fed straight from the water main through a pressure limiting valve, so the hot tap runs at close to the same pressure as the cold. A low pressure cylinder is fed from a header tank in the roof, or a pressure reducing feed valve, and the hot runs weaker than the cold. You cannot fit a mains pressure cylinder into a low pressure system without changing the valving; see low or mains pressure.
Vitreous enamel
Glass-lined steel with a sacrificial anode. Rheem MPVE carries a 10 year cylinder warranty; Rinnai ME 7 years. Rinnai ME is rated indoor or outdoor; Rheem MPVE is indoor only.

Valves for a mains pressure install
- Pressure limiting valve, cold water expansion control valve and tempering valve are needed on a compliant mains pressure install.
- Apex CP 20 combi pack, 20 mm, lead free: pressure limiting stop valve, expansion valve, tempering valve, non-return, ball valve. $570.
- RMC Econopack: the lower cost set. $360.
